To my co-workers who can see this journal, please be patient with me as I'll be late to work because of this. XD;
To the few people who actually appreciate MotoGP posts, I'm sorry for the incoherence, and I hope you understand. ^_^0
====================
It's 3:30 am on Friday morning and I'm STILL awake.
This is because the MotoGP Misano leg replay (originally held on September 2nd) I've long been waiting for is finally showing. Yes, in the wee hours of the morning. I really hate Star Networks for shafting the MotoGP fans. >_<0
Things I liked:
1) The host of this week's On The Grid (the show composed of 10- to 15-minute segments sandwiched between each race) was a GIRL! And she looked very credible talking about race terms (plus she's very telegenic, I must add). Too bad I wasn't paying attention, I was trying to get online to be able to blog this. XD;
2) On The Grid featured Loris Capirossi and Valentino Rossi. I may have disliked Rossi in the very recent past because of his cockiness during his on- and particularly off-track battles with Sete Gibernau, my favourite racer and one best known for having been one of the best racers that never won the World Champion title, but after having been able to download the 2003 documentary "Trail of Glory", I realize that I have to respect him for how far he's come. And his record is truly impressive - just Google his name and you'll see why he's one of the most outstanding MotoGP racers of this generation. As for Capirossi, well, I guess he's pretty good, but I must admit that he's still under Rossi's shadow.
3) Long-time underdog John Hopkins is finally getting his act together, proving that his first-place finish in the race prior to Misano was no fluke. He finished third place.
4) Other down-on-their-luck (as of this year, anyway) riders who did well in this race Alex Barros, Anthony West and Carlos Checa.
Things I did not like:
1) Nicky Hayden ran a curve too wide and so he accidentally brought Randy De Puniet and Dani Pedrosa while he ran a curve too wide. Both De Puniet and Pedrosa ended up bowing out of the race. However, it's to Pedrosa's credit that he didn't bother confronting the volatile De Puniet, which is what competing racers usually do when someone literally drags them into the sand.
2) Right when he managed to beat Chris Vermeeulen to the number one spot at during the third lap, Rossi overshot and missed a sharp curve, instead getting back into another area of the track, and on the wrong lane too. This left him no choice but to get back to the pits, meaning he also left the race early. And on his home race, of all place, where he was able to achieve a record six-time podium finish (not a lot can do that on their home races, which helps to explain why Rossi got his nickname "The Doctor" - because he's JUST THAT GOOD).
3) For that matter, EVERYONE was having a hell of a time at the curves on every single lap of this race. So many were just shooting it wide.
4) My favourite, Shinya Nakano, didn't make it to top ten. >_<
5) Star Sports originally scheduled the race to be broadcast LIVE FROM ITALY ON SEPTEMBER 2ND, at 4:57 PM +08:00 / Philippine Standard Time. However, they didn't actually show it till much later that night, and even later during the rest of the week, preferring to give the overly long-running Guiness World 9-Ball competition the priority. There was even no banner on the TV announcing the change in schedule dammit! WTFH, Star Networks, WTF??? XO Must you keep doing this EVERY year? (Buti na lang may YouTube, kaso matatagalan pa 'yun... nasa April races pa lang yata sila. Hay.)
*** EDIT: Fixed post to correct all the wrong names of people and places. I clearly should not be posting at 3:30 am (though, the three jolly British race commentators kept saying that the September 2nd race was in Mugello, not Misano). XD; More input to come once I screw my brain back together, yeah.
